Some notes on getting the BridgeBoard support software for Caligari
Broadcast set up correctly:
You first need to make a partition for the BridgeBoard on your
Amiga hard disk. To do this, either use the BridgeBoard software
installation utility supplied by GVP (if you have a GVP product), or refer
to the MakeAB section in your BridgeBoard manual.
Once you have created the partition on the Amiga side, use an Amiga
text editor (such as ED supplied on your Workbench disk and in the C:
directory) to add the following two lines to your S:startup-sequence after
the "Binddrivers" line:
SYS:PC/AMouse
Run >NIL: SYS:PC/PCDisk
To do this with ED, do the following:
1. Open a CLI window or Shell from a Workbench icon.
2. Type:
ed s:startup-sequence (press the enter key)
3. Use the up and down cursor keys to position the cursor on top of the
first character of the line below the "Binddrivers" line.
4. With the cursor properly positioned, type in the two previously mentioned
lines just as they appear, each followed by enter.
5. Press the Esc key, followed by the 'x' key followed by enter.
6. When the hard disk light goes out, reboot the Amiga and wait for the
Workbench to reappear.
7. Re-open the PC Mono window.
***** NOTE: these commands may attempt to rename or delete non-existant
files in an effort to protect some of the files which you may
already have on your hard disk. If any messages such as "File
not found" appear, please disregard them.
After creating the PC partition, you need to format it. To format
the partition, do the following:
With the first Caligari installation disk in drive A:, type:
FORMAT (press the enter key)
Follow the instructions printed out.
After formatting, you need to copy the contents of the three disks supplied
by Commodore with the BridgeBoard to your new PC partition. To do this,
insert the first Caligari installation disk in drive A: and type:
A:INSTDOS (press the enter key)
Follow the prompts to copy the software.
Once the BridgeBoard software has been installed, you need to determine what
type of BridgeBoard you have (XT or AT). When you are sure of which you
have, insert the first Caligari installation disk in drive A: and type:
A:AT (press the enter key)
** OR **
A:XT (press the nter key)
After configuring Caligari for the type of BridgeBoard you have, the final
step is to copy the appropriate Caligari files from the supplied
installation disks to the hard disk. NOTE: only Vista owners will need to
install software from the second disk. To properly install Caligari, you
need to know what type of Targa/Vista board you have. Insert the first
Caligari installation disk in drive A: and type ONE of the following
depending on the type of Vista/Targa board you have:
Targa 16 -
A:INSTT16 (press the enter key)
Targa 24 -
A:INSTT24 (press the enter key)
Targa 32 -
A:INSTT32 (press the enter key)
Vista PAL -
A:INSTVSTP (press the enter key)
Vista NTSC -
A:INSTVSTN (press the enter key)
You're done!
If you have received TIPS with your Targa or Vista board, TIPS.BAT
is an example of how to get TIPS running from within Caligari Broadcast.
TIPS.BAT should set you in your TIPS directory and start TIPS.
